The game Man vs. Wild is the video game version of the hit TV series from the Discovery Channel with the same title. The show is hosted by the legendary outdoor survival expert Bear Grylls. The game was developed by Floor 84 Studio with the help of Scientifically Proven for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii and was released last April of this year. The game is published by Crave Entertainment.
In Man vs Wild, the player takes the role of Bear Grylls himself and do their best to survive the wilderness. The game has five large areas in which the players will have to survive in. These places are the Everglades, the Sahara, a jungle island and Patagonia. The start of the game is basically the same as how the show Man vs. Wild starts where Bear Grylls jumps out of a plane or a helicopter. The goal of the game is basically to survive the wild starting from the drop off point until he gets out to the game’s extraction point.
In the Man vs Wild game, Bear Grylls have done all the voices of his in-game counterpart. His voice will also basically guide the players on what to do in every step of the way. While moving, the player’s stamina and other essentials for his survival will be shown in the game’s HUD and will have to hunt for bugs, look for water and whatever things Bear needs in order to survive.
The in game environment is very dynamic. The weather will change unpredictably and wild animals will approach the character anywhere. In these instances, a battle mode will be activated and players will have to dodge, attack or even retreat at certain times. Discovery Channel did not want their starts to be seen dying anywhere in the Man vs Wild game so whenever the player fails in their goals, they will just see Bear Grylls being air lifted away from the wilderness and respawn back to the latest check point.
The game is certainly a very exciting game to play. Adventure hungry players out there should definitely try the game out!
